Offshore on the Double Nickel
Full-Day
Full-day offshore charter on a proper sportfisher. Marlin, sailfish, dorado. Up to 6 anglers.
The biggest boat we put guests on.
The Double Nickel is a custom forty-two foot Buddy Harris, and she is the serious end of what we book. Ten hours, up to six anglers, and the range to fish properly offshore rather than turning for home because the day is running out.
She is set up for it. Garmin electronics with a two kilowatt Airmar CHIRP transducer for finding fish, an air-conditioned cabin, a private head and a deck with room for six people to work without standing on each other.
Ten hours and the range to use them.
More about this tour
Offshore here means marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi. Which of them is running on your particular day is not something anybody can tell you in advance, and we would rather say that than sell you a promise.
Billfish go back. This boat runs catch-and-release for billfish, which is how it should be, and it is worth knowing before you picture the photograph.
Here's how the 10 hours unfold.
Every step is planned so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
Down to the marina.
Marina Pez Vela is at the end of our street, so the start of a very early day is a walk rather than a drive.
Lines away for the offshore grounds.
Out past the breakwater and into the run offshore.
Working the blue water.
Trolling the ground the crew have been fishing, with the electronics doing the searching. Lunch and drinks aboard, and the cabin to get out of the sun in.
Back into the marina.
In with whatever the day gave you, and the walk back up to the hotel.
Everything that's included, and everything to bring.
