Through the mountains inland from Quepos to hidden waterfalls. Single or double ATV, hotel pickup included.

This one goes inland and upward, on unpaved tracks through plantations and small villages that most visitors never see from a road. You cross rivers. You get muddy. That is the tour, and anybody selling it as a gentle scenic drive has not been on it.
You can take a quad on your own or ride a two-seat machine with somebody else driving. That is why this works for a couple where only one of them actually wants the handlebars, and it is the single most useful thing to know before you book.

The turnaround is a waterfall with a pool under it and there is time to get in. Lunch afterwards is a Costa Rican plate: rice, beans, salad and something off the grill, eaten somewhere with no menu and no view of the sea.
Bring a driving licence if you intend to drive, and wear shoes you would not mind ruining. Both of those are meant literally.
Here's how the 4 hours unfold
Every step is planned so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
Pickup at Las Cascadas.
Collected at the hotel lobby for whichever of the three departures you take.
Machines, helmets and the briefing.
You are matched to a single quad or a two-seater, fitted with a helmet, and shown the controls on flat ground first.
Tracks, plantations and river crossings.
Unpaved trails inland with a guide leading. The water crossings are part of the route rather than an optional extra.
The waterfall stop.
Time off the machines at a waterfall with a pool under it. Get in if you want to.
Lunch, then back to the hotel.
A Costa Rican plate before the run back, and drop-off at the lobby.
