The hills at the pace of a horse.

Everything else we book goes fast. This one does not, and after a few days of boats and zip lines that turns out to be the point.

The ride works through the Naranjo River corridor, up dirt tracks and through forest, at a pace that lets you look at things. There is a waterfall partway round with a pool underneath it, and you get in rather than photographing it from the saddle.

Six hours at walking pace, and a waterfall in the middle of it.

More about this tour

Beginners are the normal case rather than the exception. Horses are matched to rider experience, and the ride runs at every level from first-timer to seasoned. If you have never been on a horse, say so when you book and that is the horse you will get.

Lunch comes after the ride, cooked locally. Three departures run through the day, so this fits around a morning at the park or a slow start.

Here's what happens in about 6 hours.

Every step is planned so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.

At the stables

Meeting your horse.

Horses are matched to experience, so tell the guides honestly what you have and have not done before.

On the trail

Up through the corridor.

Dirt tracks and forest through the Naranjo River corridor, at a walk. Toucans and monkeys are what riders are told to watch for.

Partway round

The waterfall stop.

Down off the horses at a fall with a pool beneath it. Long enough for a proper swim.
