Animals such as white-faced monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles, caimans, boas, crab-eating raccoons and silky anteaters, as well as crabs and numerous bird species, such as: heron, pelicans. 

The mangrove swamps and canals are natural habitats and ecosystems filled with plant life, colorful birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.  The Damas Island community is a quiet fishing community where it is common to see ancient techniques still in practice.
